turning a MY into a 4wd buggy
turning a MY into a 4wd buggy
hey guys has anyone converted their old rusty MY wagon into a 4wd hunting/4wd buggy ? i have seen one on ebay that was using a rx turbo setup.
i reckon all the running gear and maybe a beetle aircooled motor would make the best 4wd buggy , could be left for yrs and then just started and run. and the 4wd system would be great.
anyway any body got any pic's etc
cheers brenton

Rising Sun Car Service in Adelaide make a lot (probably the one you saw on ebay).
I've seen a few pictures from ones in the US too. Many different ways around it..
Why would you use a VW motor? They are a tad loud for my liking. Esp for hunting. And EA81's are great.

There is an almost complete Rhino buggy in Mount Isa, Qld if anybody wants. I'm sure it would be stupidly cheap. Built from MY wagons with all new suspension. All the cagework was done but the mechanicals were beyond the owner. I was going to help him get it finished but we are both beyond that sort of thing now. Wouldn't take much to finish it though.

i was thinking of using a beetle motor because i have heaps of vw's and you could make the buggy much simpler with out all the water cooling and it could be left for long periods of time with out worrying about rust in the rad and motor. but i would use the suby motor if it was running properly. ill keep an i out for a rusty l series, since i like the MY body and there's plenty of l's left.
thanks for the info guys
