1997 Subaru Impreza RX

Post by mattneggar » Sun Jul 24, 2011 10:44 am

Hey all,
I have a 1997 Subaru Impreza RX awd, 5 speed manual, ej20, cruise control etc....
I have been trying to figure out what type of modifications to do.. The reason I am posting this thread is for you guys to give me some ideas of what would some great performance modifications as I am allowed to drive anything and I am currently earning enough cash to do modifications.. I was thinking of something along the lines of TURBO, Cold air intake, big sound system, 3 inch high flow exhuast etc but I am unsure be a good help if the community could throw some ideas my way knowing the engine is a nice EJ20. :)

Never heard of Thevenard but if you're in Aus I'd suggest selling it & buying a good 99/00 WRX for around the 10 - 12k mark.

Another option would be to buy something that has been smacked up the bum at auction & swap everything over.

Far better off buying it than building it . The factory builds turbo cars cheaper than you can and its set up as a package ie not just a Subaru + turbocharger .
The final year of the classic style was 2000 and at the above mentioned price is good buying if you can find an un flogged unwollied one . If you can get a bog stock std one then its more likely to have had a reasonable life .

A .

if you want the best of the best performance for your subaru i think it will be best to not use any aftermarket subaru parts if you want some real deal power on your car buy the most expensive turbo etc etc.lol
but i agree with d_generate, it will be a good move to sell it and buy something newer. Anyway its just my opinion.
