you can buy disposable coveralls that have boots and hood and also get a helmet with a visor for about $10, that keeps all the stuff out of your clothes and hair, mine have been good for about 10 years cos you don't use it much.
a 17cfm compressor is a good size. a hood is essential to protect eyes and face a normal visor won't stop the sand richochetting.
a 12 will do but for smaller jobs as it runs out of puff and you have to keep stopping and wait for it to pump up. you can make a feeder out of a 20 litre drum drill a 1/2" hole solder or weld or stick a piece of copper pipe in drill 3/16 hole in pipe about half way along to allow the suction to feed.
also if you put up a screen you can recycle the grit after sieving it, and this also helps keep the dust down.
i have used beach sand, after sieving, it must be bone dry, also glass beads you can get some interesting effects. also done glass with it.
forgot to mention absolutely essential to use a good respirator with the correct filter any of the dust can be dangerous especially if you have asthma.
I made up a frame that i could wrap plastic builders sheeting all the way around to keep the spread of the sand and dust down. it was about 2m x 2m, or you could use a garden shed with lighting.

I think that their server may be down.

The warning thing was just as a general health thing not a personal attack, like using brake cleaner to clean materials to tig weld (it burns off producing phosphorous gas) you could get away with doing it but if it gets you its pretty serious.

thats a pretty damn sweet plane, cant blame you for wanting to go flying than watch cars.

Well done, that really rips it off, have you thought of catching the sprayed sand in a tarp then running it through a sieve and re-using it? I used to and saved a fortune.

d gen. Yer but the garnet is used stuff already, not that that is a bad thing, just couldn't be bother gathering it, I doo have a small tarp though and might just give it a go.
BTW today was the quickest blasting I have ever done.
Found a good combination of Garnett, nozzle size and air nozzle size, even got over 1hr from one steel blast nozzle.

fred. a fair bit of time has been lost experementing with nozzle sizes n stuff.
so far
Blast gun from Gasweld with a few mods. 3mm air nozzle, O rings added to seal air.
1/4 blast nozzle
used garnett cause it is finer.
the Toolex 17cfm air compressor has made a massive difference running up to 120psi.
