Never seen a dual range 6 speedlovey80 wrote:Toonga, what is the low range like in the Forrester?
Well, so far they handle the power and torque of the H6 just fine. And realistically the L series gearbox is no different in build or design of the EJ boxes. The difference is that they're only front wheel drive - and this has it's issues with loading up one wheel (spinning) and having that drop getting full traction when something goes bang. AWD seems to reduce/eliminate this issue...taza wrote:I would say no. A wrx puts out around 300Nm while one of these throws a min of 350Nm. If an L-Series box can't handle a wrx motor then it highly doubt it could handle an EE20.
I do I do!! Well, I'd give it a go anyway...TOONGA wrote:Doesn't have it and I truely don't think it would need it, unless someone wanted to go rock crawling.
This was the downfall for the Toyota Tercel - they had the EL (extra low) gear but if you had to reverse up a steep incline that you decided to go down then you were stuck... That's about the only gripe I've heard about with these from owners that take them bush.lovey80 wrote:Thanks, but still very disappointed no low range is available. Nothing worse than trying to back a boat uphill into a shed without LR.
