Combining RX CLSD diff with B4 Legacy 4.444 diff
Combining RX CLSD diff with B4 Legacy 4.444 diff
Guys,
I have done a bit of a search but can't find any info on what I want to do..... so here's ask'in
I have a RX leone 3.7 R160 CLSD with male stubs and a Legacy (Liberty) B4 4.444 R160 VLSD with female sockets
What I want to achieve is a 4.444 CLSD with ideally the male stubs - ie put the crown and pinion from the B4 diff into the RX diff - is it as easy as this?
OR,
Will I have to retain the female sockets if I use the B4 crown wheel? In which case does anyone know what combination of inner CV/Shaft works in a RX leone rear?!?!?
I am aware of potential circlip issues on the inner CV's and the drama of making sure the preloading and alignment is correct. As this is for my rally car I will likely get it professionally blued and assembled but I want to supply the right parts.
Appreciate any insight.

ok - will that enable me to move the male splines over to the 4.44 diff as well, or will I be stuck with the female sockets?
I assumed I would need to use the RX diff housing as while I have not pulled them apart I expect the side plate seals differ between the two spline types??

Can be done, its actually the crown and pinion that can be removed from the centre. You might need a press access & impact wrench. You get to keep the CLSD with male stubs but with 4.44 crown/pinion.

Great - thanks guys, appreciate the help clarifying the specifics!
I saw Andrew T's old thread during my search but was unsure how it applied to the later model female socket diffs.
Looks like I have all the bits to give the old rally car a 4.44 ratio drivetrain...... yay
Should match up to my V3 STi RA Gearbox nicely

Yeah I forgot to clarify something others are trying to say, you've probably got it sorted now, but for the possible benefit of others:
The stub type is fixed with the diff centre, not the diff ratio. If you have an LSD with female stubs you'll need male driveshafts to make use of that LSD, the male stubs are not interchangeable with female centres.

How about using the centre from Gen 1 Liberty/Legacy RS which still has male splines? Though you end up with a V LSD, not C LSD
The other option is to use the complete later diff (use the L series front diff mount on it) into the L series rear suspension. But you need Series 1 L series rear shafts as these had floating type CV joints on both ends of the driveshafts, not just the inner. They give a little extra length.
