Fitting wrx or similar seats to L series

Post by Singo » Mon Aug 07, 2006 6:03 pm

Hi all,
wondering on how much of a mission it is to install later model seats to a L series. I know the rails aren't the same to begin with.
Has anyone attempted or achieved it and are there any companies in WA that may take it on.
Cheers

Can't be too hard to do yourself. Take both sets of seats and see how hard it is to adapt the L rails to the Lib seat. I've not done this particular swap although I have L series touring wagon seats in my MY. I have seen Lib seats in an L somewhere on these boards.

On another note, are you the bloke I met a while back at the Melville Macca's carpark?

widths are VERY different- WRX is narrower than an L seat. that said it can be done with a bit of measuring. best to see an engineer about it though. if they break in an accident you are literally screwed!

My mate has Forester seats in his L(all Lib, Imp and Foz seats interchange). He drilled off the Foz rails(spot welded on I think) and nut and bolted the L rails to the seats. Quite straightforward with a bit of skill and commonsense. He works at an engineering shop so there would have been nothing dodgy.

I've pulled the rails off some WRX seats, With a bit of hollow square bolted to the MY rails to raise them up a bit ( too wide low down ) they should just squeeze in when put on the wrong side. I just need to put on some flat cross pieces slightly longer than the width of the rails ( when bolted in ) then spotweld or bolt the seat to the cross pieces.... in theory :)
