Lib lift gearbox crossmember bolt stripped

Post by cruzingbrumby » Thu Feb 01, 2007 7:55 pm

While I was doing a conversion to my lib, I found that one of the front gearbox cross member bolts had been stripped (maybe when the lift kit had been installed. To fix it they had welded a bolt on the outside and ground out the lift block to accomodate the bolt. Anyone know how to fix it ? Looks like the 2 bolts there are on a single piece of metal that could be unpicked from the front cut and welded onto my car, is there any problems doing this, i'm no panel beater

if there is any sort of area left...ur better taking the section from the frunt cut and welding it in,,, otherwise grind it all flat redrill the captive nut and tap in a thread a little bigger then origional..then u will start with a new thread and bolt...but only a suggestion...ive done this in the past with no issue arising later on..
