Go for Pedders 1" lifted springs.
King only make STD height heavy duty springs.

what arethe advantages and disadvantages of having the 1" lifted pedder springs overthe kings. does having the pedders have any negative effect on cv''s?

dont buy pedders because they offer 1" lifted springs, buy pedders because you WANT a further 1" lift..

Kings being alot stiffer than stock stand much higher than factory springs anyway. Its all about how high you want to go really. Remember you lose 1" of down travel with a 1" raised spring..

For what its worth I would say stay with Kings.

The difference is in the design of the spring itself – if you put the 2 side by side 1 may have more coils in 1 section then another (like down the bottom of the coil) this effects the ‘springeness’ of the coil as well and will in turn effect the ride/handling but it depends of what ride/handling you desire (note i am aware that the strut will also play a factor in bump/rebound). Did this make sence?

Can I ask then why are you looking at Pedders? Are you also considering other brands as well?

True. It is ok to go 1" higher if you are using modified struts & tops like I am Or you have 3" lift kit & run 2" tops (MY/ L series specifically). 1" is as big as I would go with suspension lifts with Subaru’s.

Pedders give a MUCH better ride than kings (I know my RX ride is VERY hard with HD Kings)

And as you can see this is a personal preference (as my last RX had KYB’s on chopped Kings all round, and my current RX project will have Bilstiens on chopped Kings (stiffer again) both on a 50 series low profile tyre, and I love the feel/ride/responsiveness of it and there were not complains from the bass about it being to hard).

In addition to this my wagon has KYB / Kings combo for on all 4 corners for 4WD, and again no complaints so I suppose its down to personal preference – maybe there is there someone’s car you can go for a ride in to compare? Actually is there a price difference between different units?

Just airing some different opinions/thoughts.

my king/kyb setup is very stiff, but it still rides pretty nice, considering i have a 3inch lift, the handling is very good(better than before the lift!). Iva also heard that people opting for higher springs have had massive problems with camber and tyres getting chewed out VERY quickly. All i can say is that i am very happy with my kings and kyb's and i have never bottomed them out!

Different car, but I am also facing this question and have not yet decided on a choice of spring. Currently stock springs and shocks in the liberty, near 200K the rear springs have sagged badly enough to be scrubbing the inside of the tyres. Will be going KYB for the shok but still unsure what spring to get. I will be not lifting this car but don't mind the small extra lift that standard kings will give.

keep it coming.Kings sound good i can get em cheaper than pedders.I seen a pic of a l on here with 3"lift and lovells it had heeps of clearance between tyre and guard.i'm trying to fit 29" tyres and the smallest lift for clearance, i may get away with 3" and good springs but its looking more 4".

I was going to suggest lovells but they can be a bit difficult to find & get them at the right price..

I Like Pedders, they ride nicer than the Kings in my RX + I get Pedders springs at an unbelievable price.... Puts Kings to shame ;)
