should mount the radiator between the rear panel and the ute tray, have some vents to direct airflow into it? It's out of the way, and it'd look cool :D

EG33 Brumby

Post by daniel » Fri Jun 29, 2007 8:08 pm

Hi everyone. My little brumby is coming along well, but a little slower than hoped for. dad (steve_rising_sun) still has to wire up ecu out of front cut. come on dad. underside of car is done, brake kit went in great and was worth every cent. thanks gareth. exhaust went in last week, 2 1/4 all the way so should be fairly undetectable to mr policeman. front lights back on after the chop chop to fit engine in. good thing dad had the two 6' shoehorns from last project. box fit ok with a little persuasion. handbrake lever modified for rear. svx dash is in, will be running all guages and stuff from original loom when dad gets around to it. new carpet arrived and seats redone to go back in asap. fuel pump(vl turbo) in and new fuel lines hooked up.
next week roll bars and radiator after that. i suppose a few more months and i could maybe be driving a very personalised brumby!

not as hard as i thought. a few whacks with the implant device (hammer) to spread the standard brumby instrument housing and a couple of screws and in he went. had to snip a couple of mounting tabs from svx cluster but the fit is very snug and not going anywhere. unfortunately i cracked the clear plastic protective cover, so will have to order another from america.

So Daniel could you post any pics of the svx dash and did you only use the cluster and harness or did you fit the whole dash? Forgive the questions but i am looking at putting a digital awd dash from an L series in my ej20t brumby conversion so any info from your dash conversion would be a help

I used the brumby orig dashboard and the svx instrument cluster. guys said to use the coup dashboard and go for the digital my cluster, but all the loom fit to the svx cluster....anyway... the cluster fit quite snug into position, i just needed to spread the brumby cluster housing, cover for the top corners as the svx cluster is more square than the brumby hole. the angle of the cliuster is different, brumby bottom heavy but svx top heavy so the plastic retainer that has the wiper and hlight switches has to be cut right back.
i dont know how different the svx is from the digi dash you have, but will send a few snaps next week. going to be a pig to wire up properly though.
car is running, dodged the starter wiring for now and computer runs well, just needs a big tidy up and get the rest done
cheers
