FWD Auto in brumby ??
FWD Auto in brumby ??
Hey guys - whats involved in putting a FWD Auto box in a Brumby ?
Preferably an auto suitable for an EJ22, even an early model auto with an adapter plate will do.

i want to ask why it has to be fwd.
the liberty awd autos (and svx) have a fuse holder under the bonnet, which you put a fuse in that makes the awd drop to fwd. im unsure how well this works, and for how long its good for the tranny and that but..
im goind to wire mine (ej22, 4eat auto (svx)) through the fuse, then to the switch for the handbrake light so as when i pull the handbrake, it goes FWD.
this Should work yeah? does anyone know better?
(ps. ill be doing hyd handbrake onto rear)

Sorry, I still don't see the reasoning for it to be 2wd, its a backwards step when you can jump up to AWD.niterida wrote:Yeah I read that thread but it is very confusing.
Don't ask why but it has to be FWD, so is it best to use an EJ box or an L/MY series box and use an adapter plate for the EJ22 ?
You can shove the EJ in with the original box or L 5 speed with the use of the adapter plate. Other small mods will be needed for the 5 speed to fit it, but is very easy to do.
Please tell us why it has to be 2wd = Front wheel drive?
Cheers

Fwd will give you plenty of wheelspin in a ej'd brumby. If you want to keep the electronics simple use adpater plate and ea auto.I would not recomend this though, old box not really meant for ej power. If you want a reliable box attached to the ej motor than a ej auto would be the best solution. If you want FWD its your choice. If you become sick of wheel spin torque steer then wack in AWD auto. You can get the awd auto to run on a fwd loom and ecu.
What 's involved[not everything just a few offhand] custom g/box x member,mounts.Wiring in Auto loom,tcu,speed sensor.Tailshaft and diff changes.Auto cooler.

If you are using the standard brumby ea81 use a ea 81 auto bolt str8 on,requires auto flywheel,tc,starter motor, shifter ,tailshaft etc.niterida wrote:OK cool thanks for the info.
Looks like it will definitely be the FWD EA auto then if I am correct in assuming they bolt in ?
You can use a 4wd auto its fwd normally then if you turn on 4wd it engages the rear.
A good reason for FWD...FWD DRAG CAR?
