Is the plan to have these sitting flush with the top of the sides or more like a canopy hyprid?

We are looking at having the lids sit over the whole chrome strip of the Brumby and come flush with the top and overhang the sides like the HSV & Falcon lids with lockable options...

My preference would be for the lid to be level with the sides of the bed, similar to a torneau cover. You'd lose the bottom 4" of the window and have a real difficult time getting it to seal. Something permanent would have to be fitted up to the rear firewall and down those long B pillers and the ute lid would have to seal well onto that structure.
Sound messy?
I guess thats why it's never been done.

This is confusing without a drawing... The lid will be the same levels as the sides thats for sure....

I might do a handsketch drawing tonight and take some pictures of what we are talking about...

Hi guys...This is whats on mine...I bought it with the cover already on so no idea on cost or anything else.

One of my sons is a sheet metal worker and he says it would be fairly expensive and a fair bit of work in it. But it might give you some ideas.

The brumby has a full security system, keyless entry and the lid is also keyless entry. If some one were to break into the cover, it also activates the security system. It has a manual overide behind the drivers seat running a cable to the actuators.

Thanks for the pictures. Thats what I had in mind but it will be a 2 piece lid as the mould for a 1 piece will be double the labour time to initially make. It also will allow for a storage box in this section...

That is one of the neatest jobs I've seen. I wouldn't have used chequer plate though.

The one I have just pictured is on a brumby I bought from Ipswich. Some of the guys from Brisbane know its history from around the North Brisbane where it comes from. But yes, a lot of work has gone into the cover. They may know more about it. (If you wanted to know who made the cover) Trevor

Okay have got some prices on these lids.

$5000 to make the mould which will be able to reproduce as many moulds as we require.

$1300 for the lid and top surrounds
$500 for the fittings (ie: gas struts, locks, all parts required to fit the lid)

Obviously the huge cost is in making the actual moulds. At this price we would need to have a fair few people commited to the lids prior to commencment. I will have a CAD diagram available in the next week or two to show eveyone the design.

Price for the custom Brumby ute lids will be around the same as the Holden and Ford custom lids - $2000 per lid

which includes the fitting kits (ie: gas struts, locks, and all fittings required), the actual fibreglass ute lid and the surround around the top of the Brumby to accomodate a brake light.

At this price we will need a minimum of 5 people to commit which will cover the cost of the moulds....The mould that is being made will be able to make as many lids as we require.

I will grab a copy of a diagram to show all the product..

Need to see the design, and at least some of their other work as well before committing to that sort of money.
