I did have similar troubles with Glen's conversion and we just opened up the holes slightly on the gearbox. Don't see it being dodgy as long as the dowels are in place, everything will be lined up correctly.
I had 20 of these adapter plates made up and only have 3 left. Yours and Glen's are the only ones that have had this problem??
btw.. you must have put some serious force on them bolt
I got mine on fleabay - about $30 each plus postage, except I got one 9 inch and two 7 inch to fit between the radiator and the EJ. I reckon I'd go 2x 9 inch if I was to do it again as they're 5-7mm thinner and pull a pot load more air than the 7's do.
