Cheers
Didn't see this before, sorry. But while the post is up I'll reply.
In the inlet side it has a little mesh filter.. That's all the pre filtering I use. It got clogged once from a piece of silicone, car ran, but wasn't happy. Cleaned it out and she's all good.
I was thinking of putting a normal EFI filter in back there as well as the one at the front but at the moment its just too much hassle.

quick question about the VL fuel pumps (sorry i dont mean to hijack!)

Can you install them and use em with a carby (hitachi/Weber) system even though it is a fuel injected pump?Or is the pressure output too too much?

I understand that when you do an ej swap u have to have a proper pump to suit fuel inj side of things. Its merely if mine broke tomorrow and i needed a replacement could i use one.
cheers bren

Don't quote me on it... but i don't think it would work.. I think you would find the float system in a carby wouldn't be able to handle the flow or the pressure of an efi pump.

I could be proven wrong though... never been gutsy enough to try it.

On the topic of EFI fuel pumps and stepping sideways a little...

Anyone got a surge tank setup on an L? IF so:

- where is it mounted?
- what capacity is it?
- and how did you wire in the primary pump (old carbie pump would be what i'm using...)

Pictures tell a thousand words - usually.

Sorry for hijack, thought it a good discussion to add to with this...

I went into that new malz store; (the old marlows) and they wanted 240 for a new vlt pump, walked out. Can you use the old one out of the donor car? Anyone know if a 98 impreza would have an in tank or external? Haven't checked yet...

that is the rrp on mine i got from martek.com.au . The fella tells me they manufacture a lot of the pumps they sell. It is quiet without the damper, has no damper and has fixed one of my problems - pressure loss only when driving. :) :)
