I think all the Impressa stuts are "interchangeable". WRX would be the no.1 choice for damping.(Pretty sure all steering knuckles for Libs and Impressa's-all models to current-are the same, as are all the twin piston front and single piston rear disks and callipers. Can anyone verify this?)
You must use early Lib rear backing plates and handbrake cables. 2wd or 4wd. I'm not sure if there are other options. I based the kit on these backing plates because they are the easiest to come by and as such have not done any research into other options.
You can use a Liberty strut in an MY but you need to use an Impressa upper spring seat and spring. You can get various length WRX/Impressa springs from KIngs.
The Impressa spring and upper seat are a very tight fit in an MY but mine were o.k., I have Tein coilovers in the front now and there is plenty of room. Coil overs like mine are available second hand from wreckers/Importers at very reasonable cost if you keep your eyes open.
If you can you would opt for Impressa struts(or at least the spring and upper spring seat) for both models (L & MY) but Lib. will work in an L.
Liberty and Impressa strut tops fit L strut towers. I will supply the parts neccessary to adapt an MY strut top to the Impressa strut as part of an MY kit.
Peejay, the master cylinder in you picture is unfortunately not an easy install in either vehicle. An MY needs the two outlets on the bottom of the master cylinder (as opposed to the two on the side in your pic.) to be serviceable to be a bolt in fit.
The L series I have had three solid lines to the master cylinder - 2 on the side and 1 on the bottom, I sourced a 1 inch Lib master cylinder that was a direct swap. For the MY I got a 1 inch master cylinder that had all 4 ports serviceable, The MY lines went into the two on the bottom and I plugged the two on the side. Plugs etc will be a part of the MY kit and available on request in the L kit.
Gee.

Chridk,
I have had 16's off a 2.5 rx Lib and 15's off an early WRX on my Brumby.
They both had 205's on them and both sat very close to the rear outer arm. If your 17's are the same offset as my wheels they should fit, but I don't know about tyres bigger than 205, 215s maybe. Fronts won't be a problem on the Brumby in regards to strut clearance but as the overall diameters come up the inside of the front tyres start to hit the rails. I fitted restrictors to the rack, and will provide them with the kit.
I'm starting work on producing a front end kit with more castor through longer radius rods, wider track and fibreglass guards and bumper with shorter nose (moved forward wheel arch). This eliminates the wheel scrub at the rails and the need for the restrictors. The restrictors only limit steering at full lock just enough to stop the tyres touching the rails. I paid $250 for the Teins (type Ha/Ra).Keep your eyes out for Bilsteins too. I would say Teins are probably the low end of the market for quality and performance so don't pay too much for them.
Chris, I'm not clear about where you want to bolt the ring. I think you need to bolt it to the xt6 hub. The standard abs backing plate from a Liberty had major clearance issues with the abs sensor in the backing plate and the rear control arm, so I didn't persue it.

hey-o all,
i'd be interested in getting this kit (not right now though... i'm broke) but i want to make sure it'll fit my car...
now i'm not very up to date with my ausie lingo so i'm unsure if this kit will fit my car...
i have a 79 brumby which is begging to stop faster... especially since an ej22t might find a home under the hood...
i've already converted the rear to disc brakes off an 87 RX... that helped, but i want MORE...
are there any pictures of the front setup? perhaps i missed them if they've already been posted...
so will your kit work on my ute? if it'll work how much would shipping be to canada?
thanks!

Hi Greg
I'm not sure if you have a gen.1 or gen.2 Brumby. If it's the same body as the Brumby here http://community.webshots.com/user/tmac746 then the brake kit will fit. If its a gen.1 I don't know so I'll assume not.
The front set up uses the modified arms shown on webshots with the complete ball joint, steering knuckle and twin piston brake assembly from from a Liberty or Impressa and an Impressa front strut.
I'm not sure of postage costs yet because package size and weight is as yet unconfirmed.

hmmm alright this may take some thinking...
now i'm somewhat confused... i know the rear brakes will just bolt right on... the haven't changed the rear brake mounting pattern since my car was made... a little bit of bending and cutting was required to make the RX brakes fit but it all went smoothly...
what is the purpose of the backing plate adaptor? and i'm assuming the reason a new hub is made is to have a different spline count?
the front is a whole different story all together... the main problem i'm faced with is the problem with making the axles fit... i'm assuming that is the main purpose behind making new hubs...? i know that if i modify some ea81 control arms(gen2) i can have the entire front suspension in my car...
excuse my mass of questions... i just want to have the whole story before go and buy something i cannot use or i could get here for free or cheap...
don't get my wrong, your kit is super nice and if i had a car that would deffinatly fit it i'd buy it in a heartbeat...
something that would really help me is if you went through each part included in the kit and explained the purpose or why it is needed... (maybe some other people on here might find that helpfull too?)
oh and for your reference my car is a gen1 brumby...

thanks for all your help!

The adaptor plates fit inside the Liberty rear backing plates and clamp the backing plates to the L/MY model arms, useing the original bolt hole locations in the L/MY rear arms.
With the fronts:
a) Are you useing an MY driveshaft? The correct Lib. outer cv. will fit the correct MY shaft.
b)If not useing an MY shaft do you know how many splines the gen 1 drive shafts have?
c)The front set up uses modified arms with a Liberty ball joint, and the complete Lib/Impressa steering knuckle, hub, brakes and strut.
The new hubs are for the rear. The fit any MY/L rear stub axle.
I'm currently working on two documents,
One is a overall description of the kit with a break down and description of all the different parts.
The other is the fitting instructions.

Just waiting for some bushes and bolts and some invoices. The hubs will be here any minute.(I've seen them but there was more to do) I'm picking all the front arms from the powdercoaters today.
I still have to finnish the fitting instructions and pricing.
I think its a matter of days.
As a side note I will be able to supply new ball joints, tie rod ends, tie rods, suspension bushes, racks, p/s pumps, KYB's and other stuff once everything is up and running.
