Bratgeebah's brake kit update
Is there any word on final pricing and availability of this yet?
My project has stalled because I can't get the rear brakes on (I live on top of a hill & my engine & gearbox are somewhere else, so I can't move the car)
Have you got a pic of the Magna lever sitting in an L with the console over it?
I've been mucking around with my car & can't figure out how it would fit. Do the cables coming out the back go through the floor under the console or further back? And how high does the lever sit?
Zefy: the MY/L series rear brake use 3 bolts to hold the backing plate to the suspension, the Liberty/Legacy/Impreza/Forester use 4 & also have a larger hole in the middle. These calipers also won't bolt up to the earlier backing plates. The handbrake mechanism for Liberty on is also mounted to the backing plate.
Hence the need to use this part.

Has anyone tried to see if the lib handbrake will fit?
I'm pretty I was messaging someone early in the year who had done this.
That way I could get the leather one from an RS to match the gearknob & steering wheel...
mmmmm Leatherrrrrrr
Bit wanky I know, but you might as well enjoy your car.
I've dummied it up, but I had fouling of the end of the cable on the console (which I've since figured out how to fix). It also sits a lot higher, so it may not be able to clear without butchering the base.

this kit is looking better and better everytime i think about it!
will the documentation for the parts, instructions, data, ect ect be available without purchase? i would like to see how much different it will be to swap into a gen 1... and heck maybe there is a difference in LH drive and RH drive parts??? i have no idea why that would make a difference, but you never know!
i'm not looking to steal your kit or anything don't worry...
thanks again!

Well, after sticking my head around some LHD Subes in Europe, I can pretty much confirm that the parts are the same.
The only thing to check is the handbrake lever (the owner came up to me & I'm guessing was wondering what I was doing checking out his beaten up RX turbo coupe
). Is it closer to the left seat or right seat? Ours are closer to the right.

For everyone's info, the twin spot rear brakes of the later WRX's will be compatible with this kit.
You need the matching backing plates as they are different to all the other Libs/Imprezas/Foresters, but they mount to the suspension by the same 4 bolts.
For the front struts, I'm using 93 WRX stuff but with the L series strut top. No mods necessary but I'm not sure about what height spring I'll need yet.
What's the deal with the KYB stuff? Adjustable?

The only thing I'm unsure about with the WRX two pot rear backing plates is the difference in the shape of the pressing and if it will fit (sit flat) on the early arms without fouling. I assume it will be O.K, I haven't tried. The hand brake cables are different but you should get them with the backing plates if you can. Four pots on the front with either rear set up is definately the way to go if it's available to you.
KYB AGX have adjustable damping for bump and rebound but I don't think they have a rear for the L in this type.

They're all done. I have to machine the c/o backing plates tomorrow, drop them at the powder coaters on Wednesday, and organise a final copy of the fitting instructions. Fingers crossed I'll take orders on Friday.
I have to go through all the figures tonight and will post the price as soon as I can.

Special thanks to everyone following this thread (and previous threads that have since been deleted). This has been a long, frustrating yet rewarding journey for me and your feedback and enthusiasm has been helpful and encouraging. I hope you are as pleased with the end result as I am.
Thanks again for your patience.
