What does everyone else out there do about these bits of silvered plastic that look crap? I live in the Snowy Mountains and have to replace my windscreen every bloody year cos of our local roads department...(...another story...). Last time I simply painted them matt black and stuck em back in. But this time they're gonna fall apart... I have been told they are $300 to replace at Subaru...
Any tips or ideas???? Can i get away without them somehow?
Thanks, Justin.

Subi Rebel, the L series is different to the MY - the MY's use a rubber that holds the windscreen onto the car, the L series uses a glue or plastic compound that is heated and stuck to the car...
Maddog,
I don't have my trims on the L for the entire time i've had it on the road... It may cause leaking into the cabin no the LHS due to so much water coming off the windscreen. This can be fixed by plugging the holes (but this allows water to pool in the windscreen ledge) or you can silicone a pipe in the air intake ducts (black panels under the windscreen wiper arms) to direct water way from the air into cabin vent. Its fiddly but can be done.
The other way to do it is black windscreen silicone all the way around, trying to smooth it off for a good looking finish. This is what we did to my sister's L.
Good luck with it (and whats the story with the local roads dept?)
Cheers
Bennie

Just get rid of them and save your $300 - I recently had my windshield replaced and they used supa doopa black sticky poop and a generic window sealing rubber strip. Was a bit of a hassle getting the WS back in but it will never move.
