Ok Gents its time to start seriously looking for a donor car to steal all of the goodies from for my tired old Brumby.

I'm in Brisbane and would love to know where the best place to find the donor car from. I've had a look at Pickles for a smashed car (will keep looking) has anyone bought from them before? What am I looking at paying for a donor car with all the kit i need?

I'm guessing my ideal car would be a Outback Sport 01 or later 2.5L manual or a 03 or later Forester that has been t-Boned badly?

Am I missing any other models that have the 2.5L AWD D/R set ups?

Off topic question: I have just bought a set of Scorpion rims and really like them. I am assuming that the above conversion would certainly need rear disks to get compliance. What are my options for keeping the 4stud and having some beut rear disks.

Hi Chris,
Good choice of driveline. I reckon the 2.5 with a dual range in the Brumby would be very very nice.
I don't know when Subaru made the changes but make sure you get the SOHC engine. It will save you cutting the rails and make it easier to work on.
If you're getting a whole doner car, why not make use of the front hubs, front struts and all the brakes and wheels off it? Use the brake booster and master cylinder as well and you'll have modern brakes on a much lighter car.

You will have to also buy a Crossbred conversion kit for this. You need the custom front control arms to accept the EJ balljoints and also the custom rear hubs. Of course this will change your car to the Subaru 5stud. If you are keen on keeping 4stud (vastly inferior brake system and severely limited tyre choose) then just get a disc brake rear end from an old Vortex or RX (careful to get 4x4 one).

Thanks for the replies gents keep them comming. Brumbyrunner as far as my limmited research sugests the SOHC ej25 came in the 00-04 Outback (wikipedia) but only the Outback Sport has the DR box.....? the 03 and later Foresters had ej25 engines with DR but am unsure if either models were SOHC or DOHC?

As far as the Brakes issue is concenrned i would really really like the most modern brake set up but have just purchased a second hand (paid far too much) pair of scorpions and I really like them. If only there was a 4 stud conversion for the newer Subarus (yes that sounds bloody crazy) or if scorpion made a 5 stud rim that would be even better but not the case. Do you think the Vortex rear conversion would get engineered with the ej25?

Any help on places for a donor car?

04 0n libertys (not outbacks) had the single cam drive (ith 2 cams per head) and a dr 5 speed.
