impreza gx <-> wrx parts

I have an impreza gx my01 1 litre, and i know its not crakin, but i was considering upgrading parts as i go, for small, power-enhancing, bolt-on parts.
Would it be unrealistic to consider using parts from a wrx/sti/evo/etc! on my car, such as exhausts, turbos, and things? the my01 wrx looks identical to mine, but does that count for the motor?
i have a mild mechanical skill and low budget (thus, scavanger).

I'm researching the plausibility of doing something similar to my 2001 NA Forester. Looks like, in the end, that a straight engine swap with a WRX engine is the cheapest and most full proof option to gaining HP. Having said that, there isn't much stopping you from bolting on a turbo system other than reliability and money...but lots of work needs to be done.

I hav an 02 NA Impreza and some bugeye rexy bits... one being the exhaust... Ive already looked into fitting some of the rexy exhaust peices, and it wont fit straight up, the only bit that i could see fitting was the twin tip muffler,that is after chopping the old flange and welding on a smaller one...

So exhaust is kinda outa the question...
