+1 for the rubber flap idea

My 84 4WD wagon had little flaps than hung down in front of the CV boots.

This is a scan from the "Four Wheel Driving with Subaru" handbook

Im sure it wouldnt take much to knock up something like this

It is gonna be 1000 times cheaper than a full live rear axle setup.

i don't think live-axles are the premier solution any more....
as evidenced by the likes of many 4wd makes, and hummer, trucks - kamatz, etc
besides WTF is the idea of a subaru to be a rock hopper ?

i recall a few years ago seeing the Subaru rally team use rubber covers suspended below the inner cvs. they were also using something for the outers i think, but can't recall enough, and can't find the pics.

hey brumby runner, great pics of the live axle soobs

i was considering doing the same thing to a brumby a while back. as a rock crawler..

but subaru not haveing a suitable chassis to modify, especially for a triangulated 4link such as the one pictured, and i was concerned it would just damage the body too much. but 4link and hilux diffs as hes got i reckon is the way foreward :) not biased or anything

instead of doing a brumby for myself., i ended up doing 4link and hilux diffs to a dihatsu scat for my rock crawler.

and im gonna leave my brumby project for the road :P

no more subarus

i'll believe it when i see it.

once you start thinking about it 99.9% of these ideas never take off.

if you do it, good job.
my07 Outback
my13 Hyundai i45(shhhh)
my02 Gen3 Liberty limited ed.

previously
L-series wagon, LSD, EJ20turbo, 29in tyres, 'wanky wagon'
2000 gen3 outback, lifted, otherwise stock.

it sounds like its going to be more of tube chassis with a fiori body, not really hard when you think about it. consider the number of them that are out there with different bodies?

get onto the hard core rock crawling sites and see how they do it. most are full tube chassis with a body dropped on top.
from the little things ive picked up GU axles front and rear, 4 link set up, due to the problem of having no engine room youd want to run a EJ turbo or somthing

exactly and due to that i cant justify doing it sure if i were into comp spec then it would be worht doing problem is doing all that work and its not worth much... might put it off till i find a use for a comp truck... and have a vehicle that,ll tow it
