Hi,
Does anyone know of any companies that do transmission conversions from auto to manual on H6 Outbacks. I have been told that it is not straightforward and could cost upwards of $12000. Any advise would be appreciated.
thanks

Not 100% sure what the EZ30 bellhousing bolt pattern is bit if it's similar to the EG33 then I'd look at what the guys in the States have done in the SVXs. Costs wise, I'm thinking it would all depends on what parts you buy i.e new or used. New Clutch Kit would be a must but a secondhand gearbox (known history or warranty a must) and then it would also depend if you're going to attempt to do it yourself or pay someone else?

I've done an EZ30 conversion with STi manual to my 97 Liberty wagon and also one into a manual Kombi plus assisted a few guys doing there Outback H6 manual conversions.
It's a bolt in affair mechanically, no problems. Any EJ box will fit, 4 bolt, 8 bolt, whatever. You need a TT gearbox crossmember to allow the dual exhausts to go though.
Electrically there are some issues with certain cars. If you have a limited model with stability control it will no longer work without the auto. The models without are no problem, you just need to put a jumper across the ABS CU to emulate the auto control signal. The neutral switch at the ecu needs to be grounded also or the revs flair between gear changes.
Some guys also reported codes for the auto bringing the engine light on. I never had these issues with my wagon although the codes are in memory but the Kombi we did had this problem. We sorted through it and it turned out to be the ignition relay not shutting down causing the codes to co0me up as current.
The EZ30 is a completely different animal with a manual trans behind it, night and day. The auto sucks all it's response and a fair whack of power away.
