hey guys,

I want to redrill some rims for my car. What rims must i look for? toyota hilux, landcruser or others???? i want to get 15"

What will work?

Toyota rims have a greater offset, making them stick out further and likely requiring flares.

From memory Ford Courier, Nissan and maybe Pajero rims have a much smaller offset which should be more likely to sit inside the guards.

nan they wobble like carzy when i hit a 100k, so i want to get new ones and professinally drilled them. I'll try and swap the tyres around to see what it gives but yeah they where balanced 3 times by different shopd and still shake.

I found the Nissan Terrano (Imported Pathfinder) chrome rims were the best because the offset was good.. no need for flares. I also used them because I brought the set of 4 for $100

You can fit one of 2 ways.. drill 2 extra holes in the rims or what I think looks better is to fit 4 extra studs in each splined hub

Yeah probably less chance of wobble if you go 6stud on your car. It's easy to do...or I think maybe someone is (still) trying to sell the set he bought off Alex.

Actually, weren't you going Crossbred for your car? In which case just wait for then and use stock Subaru 5stud wheels...

yeah but saving to get $1000 for the kit is gonna take a while. :S the wobble is getting me crazy. i might try and rotate tyres and see...

Probably outta my league here but have you tried another complete set of rims to make sure it's not the hubs or something?

terrano rims yes.

dont redrill the rims...youre just asking for trouble. Re-drill the hubs. I had zero wobbles and zero worries with it.

no-one listens when people reccomend to re-drill the hubs rather than the rims. Re-drilling rims is a very average, extremely dodgy way to do it. At least when you redrill the hubs youve got a guarantee theyre not going to wobble.

I agree with Keffa, redrill your hubs. You always have the option of going back to the original stud pattern. The cops will pick redrilled rims alot quicker than redrilled hubs.

I drove to Broome and back getting up to 155km/h passing trucks and didn't have any problem with wobbles. I'm running 1997 Pathfinder rims which are inside the guards with no need for flares. Pics here showthread.php?t=11179

Very easy to do, all you need is a drill press and a 13.5mm drill.

Yeah ok, i know but im going to get the 5stud conversion kit soon, anyway i rotated my tyres and now the front steering does not wobble anymore and it seems to come from the rear so i'm kinda sure that its one of the rears. I will now try and swap each by turn with the 5th spare i've got hoping i'll eliminate the wobble:)

Thx for the advise guys, I too now agree that from the start i should not have bought those rims and just redrilled the hubs instead:)

Yeah I still have the car, it's my daily driver. I've updated a few things since then. Now running a EJ22 with a EA82 AWD dual range box.
Unfortunately I don't get a lot of time for 4wding. I was thinking of taking my nephew fishing at Whitehills when the salmon starts running. Might even see a few of you guys down there.

Ok so it turns out it was only one of the rims that was not drilled properly and that caused the shacking.

I have swap that wheel with the spare wheel i had on the wheel carrier. Funniest thing, That spare wheel is the exact design size etc but its has 20mm different offset and now the one wheel stucks out. LOL... Can't belive my luck.
Anyway, so noe i dont really want to drive it like that as its got the rear left wheel sticking out.

When shopping and found another rim but it too had the 20mm extra offset. But the guy wants only $15 for it.

So now im thinking, Would it be a good idea to have the both rear wheels 20mm extra offset? and what id like to know is , advantages, disadvantages, legality?

Just for the record are there suitable 14" and 15" wheels for this 6 stud business ?

Being light truck wheels I suppose none of them are going to be lightweight , or is there a few factory 6 stud alloy wheels that would work .

I'd like to see a hub with the 6 holes in it if possible .

Are those terrano wheels hub centric on the Suby hubs or were they altered to suit .

Also is the offset stamped on these wheels ?

I took the factory steel rims off of my brothers 82 I believe it is toyota truck. I then had them drilled to match the subaru pattern at a professional shop. If I was to do it again I would have done it myself. The holes they drilled weren't even that close but everything works. I use the factory toyota holes to locate the rims and then use the 2 new holes they drilled to get the extra clamping force.

I haven't had an issue yet. I purposely chose the deep offset rims to. I had another set that had a lot less offset but I was worried they wouldn't work. The rims I have just barely work. They almost rub the inner subframe of the car. Thats with 235/75r15 Kumho Road Venture MT's

Well there is nothing legal about redrilled rims or hubs, Although as long as you keep the offset ones on the back that sounds like your best bet. I had those white sunraiser rims for my brumby but of the four one had about a 15mm offset difference!
