Why make it RWD?

If you want a RWD ute get a commodore

The best ever bank for buck I reckon would be a WRX half cut + crossbred brake kit. That'll cost a few $$$$ and time if you do it yourself but it would be WELL worth the mula and effort. Plus it'd be AWD so it'd hand a lot better than a front or rear wheel drive.

If on a tight budget the weber would be the way to go as suggested.

You should be right with rear wheel drive, just keep an eye on the mount points as some here would say they won't hold with some flogging - but with the sort of flogging I've seen some EJ'd subi's cop in 4wd I reckon you'll be right.

Cheers

The best running NA 1.8 subi ive been in was my mates stev,(and ive owned nearly 50 of these little rippers and done all types of mods .Now without turbo or supercharger mods this is what he done and it was relativly cheap and easy..He had the cam reground to a hillman hunter grind, shaved the heads 50tho each(which meant you have to elongate the inlet manifold holes as the heads were now closer together) electronic dizzy and bigger carb .you can go either twin carbs or the webber(i have run both and find them both very similar in performance)altho twins are hard to find in oz and expensive..you can find them in NZ really cheap tho)I wouldnt buy those 500$$ weber kits on ebay as you only need buy a webber carb sourced for about 100$$ and the adapter at sprints used to be about 50$$put you accell linkage from your carb straight onto the webber)bigger exhaust and of coarse he put a new set of rings and bearings thru it to..Now he was running gas most the time so if your running petrol you will need to run premiem fuel as it will have high compression, meaning it will ping if ran on standard fuel. But every person who drove this car car commented on how well it went and she never ran out of puff on sand hills...All these mods are cheap and easy done and im sure you will be happy with the results. But of coarse if youve got the time and money an ej conversion is a must for top performance

I was thinking about this today - you'd have the V8 option for this too 8)

Buy a GT-R. id say i spent an easy 30k on motors alone and it still cant hold a candle to a GTR.

If its the EA you must have, then if its an 81, get ahold of kelford cams, chat to them about a cam and go get a webber carb. If its an 82, throw it in the bin and ref. step 1
