More engines that fits on a EA82 gearbox??

Post by Puma » Wed Mar 29, 2006 8:53 pm

I will try to explain the title of this topic.
I have a EA82 engine in my bug.
I have an adapterplate between the engine and the gearbox of the VW.
Are there more engines that I can mount into the bug without changing the adapterplate?
I know that VW has lots of different engines that fits onto the same gearbox.
Maybe that other subaru engines fits on a EA82 gearbox..

EA81 is about it...

All downgrades from what you have.

He has the EA82T.

I did forget about the ER27 though, but it's probably a little large in size for your application. There's probably a Porsche motor that would be an easier fit in the bug that you could no doubt pick up cheaper considering your location :D

Considering how badly keeping your adaptor plate limits your engine choice and how cheap they are to make I would say it would be well worth changing it.
