snorkel on l series
snorkel on l series
hey guys im looking into putting a snorkel on and im just wondering if anyone can tell me what snokels would fit
In a word, none. And to buy and fit an off the shelf snorkel would cost more than the average L Series is worth.
DIY is the way to go. Either raid the plumbing department of your local hardware shop, or get an exhaust place to bend one up for you, eg

Dane.

There's pics in the other thread.
Airbox is a hybrid - bottom half from an MPFI L Series, top half from some early Liberty, and a Lib filter with a strip of foam around the sides to make up the slight size difference. I have a 3" flange (available from the pod filters department of your local parts shop) to screw to the bottom of the air box and poke through the hole in the inner guard (which I've enlarged). Then it's flexi intake tube to connect that flange bit to the end of the snorkel.

IIRC Steptoe has some sort of Commodore airbox in one of his Brumbies. Might be worth a look. Where are you Johno?hazzard wrote:i got an ea81 and really want a snorkel so i think im goin to have to get real creative haha

For the carb'd EA82 you'd just pipe the snorkel end in the engine bay to the air intake of the carbie's air box - remember to seal off the hot air intake pipe - or cut this part off and attach the flexi hose from the snorkel to this.
I'm still yet to get stuck into my snorkel setup... Been working WAY too much to do anything on ruby
Would like to meet up and check out your setup Skrewd

I'd cut most of the aircleaner snout off as it looks very small/restrictive and also make sure you block all other openings that are open to atmosphere
and I'd also seal up the dizzy cap.

You know you are getting old when the candles on your birthday cake start to cost more than the cake itself.
