Engine swap MPFI to Turbo MPFI

Post by casual » Fri Apr 14, 2006 12:52 pm

Does anyone know if an 89' L series with and Mpfi engine in it. Will just be a straight swap for for the turbo version (EA82T)?

Most L series swaps seem to be from carb to turbo MPFI. I am hoping that it will go straight in, however may need exhaust mods or possibly different computer. Any Thoughts would be appreciated.

injected fixes a few things. you have the correct fuel lines and correct tank and pumps.
swap the crossmember (or drop the 4 bolts out of the crossmember and use the lot) and electrics across as everything else is different and if you have a donor car swap the lot across and you will be fine. its essentially the same car.

Yeah and mpfi car makes it really easy, if you have a ea82T 88>94 the mpfi wiring will work for the turbo motor. (with a few minor wiring adjustments for things like knock sensor, wastegate control and boost light) but pretty straight forward

Your turbo motor will even work with your mpfi ecu.

Im doin this conversion at the moment,... 88 vortex turbo motor into 89 tourer, its been pretty easy so far.

Any questions, just pm me
