10 to the 100 eh? Running the 27's all the time? I struggle to get that with the stock sized tyres but the 27's seem to do much better simply due to the lower revs at speed.

yeh, thats what i got with the 13s on my first tank. i was taking it pretty easy and it included 2 'country' drives.

i have not been able to get near this since, but suspect that is something to do with how good it feels to apply ones big toe the throttle :mrgreen:
I have been trying to drive sensibly this week to get another test, but i keep forgetting :roll:
(i dont have 27's, just larger tyres on 14s. but these haven't been on for a little while due to lift being out for a bit. i am still trying to decide if i should take it over pits)

is it possible that your fuel consumption is more where you drive than what wheels Bennie? using 13s in city driving and 14s when you go away will skew the results. i am sure the 14s help a bit though.

waiting on new front shocks, and then i can finish of the fixups on the paintwork.

Nah I've done the same trips with the 23's and the 27's, long distance wise the 14's come up trumps.

On long cruises the 23's (23 inch tyre diametre stock on 13 inch rim) just scrape under the 10 to the 100 mark where as the 27's (14 inch rim, 27 inch diametre tyre) can go down to about 8-9 to the 100. Around town I'd struggle for 10/100, I can't remember trying this with the 27s.

Once my "prize" gearbox is sorted it will hopefully all change for the better :D

A lower 5th gear that the EJ is more acustomed to will help out a great deal. The liberty at 110km/h does just under what the L series does at 100km/h! At 110km/h the L series sits on 3500rpm! The EJ drinks a little more at this speed with the 23's...

just for the record, my last tank (which was mostly just travelling to uni and back in moderate traffic, and the odd blast when i decided someone should know the car was EJ'd :D ) was 9.95L/100k with the 13" wheels. should be able to get this considerably lower on country drives.

it will be interesting to compare to the lift and 14" wheels down the track.

14"s on long trips will be good but keep the 13"s for around town.

I just got close to 10ltr/100km with ej22 and 14"s.. This was a trip only on the highway for a whole tank tho otherwise i dont get even close!! Im no lead foot either..

This wouldnt be the same bloke who managed to get his stock L series impounded under anti hoon laws, would it?? :p

so, what have you guys done to shutup the aftermarket fuel pumps?

Nothing... It comes and goes. I guess it's a little bit of cavitation in the pump. It comes and goes. Since mine's gone I haven't really heard it in a while - but then again, I've no had Ruby Scoo out in a while :rolleyes: I'm expecting to hear the fuel pump for a while after she's going again.

I'm thinking I need to look at why my EJ's not pulling the same figures! What year is yours from and how many engine plugs? Mine's a '91 with 3 engine plugs, I think it was a series 2.

3 plug is from the Gen1 series1, 89-92. and the2 plug is from the gen1 series2 92-94.

well mine is 3 plug to the motor, 4 plug on the computer. Gen 1, i also thought series 2 but could be wrong.
also your lift will affect it Bennie, i have no lift at the moment, but with your 3" it would be a fair bit more resistant. and we will never get them the same anyway, driving in different conditions with different fuel etc.

haven't had time to finish cleaning up and get the lift back in, mostly due to uni at the moment. apart from that, having fun zipping round on the 13's :D

I have noticed that for the last 1/4 or so of throttle position the car doesnt pull strongly, it seems to hold back a bit and feel a bit rough. i can feel it pull hard again when i back it off just a bit. I know about the connecters from the EJ to check the codes, but in my harness cutdown i think one of the connectors was butchered and the check engine light wasn't connected up. apart from that, it is a nightmare to go digging under that dash again, there are wires everywhere. if it comes to it, i will pull the dash apart and connect the plugs and rig up my own test light, but i would prefer not too if i can help it. I have access to another EJ for parts if i need, its just a couple of hrs south of here so will have to get parts posted up. it would be easier for me to replace a few sensors than spend hours upside down under the dash trying to sort out the blasted computer again :p which leads me to my question:

what would cause this? AFM sensor or knock sensor (I know the rubber on the knock sensor is a bit cracked)?

well, i must have done something right! My 1st attempt ever at going over pits and passed 1st go in a 20yr old wagon with almost double the power from stock, standard brakes and it was also my 1st engine conversion.

Nigel is now officially a 2.2L EFI :grin: :grin: :grin:

This is the main reason i haven't had the lift, new wheels on it and haven't come on the last few off road trips. :(

I owe a big thanks to RSR for all the advice given, especially on the wiring :cool:.
also cheers to Guy for the various parts to make the conversion possible (hell of a lot better than visitting a wrecker, and you get gawk at various other subies on the way through :p )
Bennie, your build thread and links to other wiring diagrams were priceless, couldn't have done it without those.

I am absolutely stoked, months of work and a lot of patience to get to this point. :rolleyes:

gawwd i love WA pits, no dramas at all. i was back in the waiting room after going over the pit 2 mins before my appointment was actually meant to start :p (I am not even kidding)

How did you do that?

I have a Liberty rack in my Leone RX and it sat like this

So I shortened the steering column shaft so it would slide further up.

Is the shaft sticking out of your Lib rack as long as mine?

yeh, it seems to be the same gannon. although, it loks to me like the shaft is angled back towards the driver a bit more on mine. i think we came to the conclusion that the fwd and awd have different set ups. i am not exactly sure why or in what way, all i know is that mine bolted straight up from a fwd A/T gen 1 series 1 liberty.
