Weber carb conversion question.
Hi all,
Was thinking about the above, and located one on ebay from the U.S. Great price too! Anyway i emailed them and the guy said they had a problem with a few of the Aussie Brumbies because the carbie studs were a bit different. he says they should measure (centre of studs) 70mm x37mm. Mine are approx 80mm x 45 mm ( hard to measure accurately) Well as my luck would have it, looks like a no goer. Can anybody shed some light?
83 EA81.
Thanks guys.

There are a few different sized manifolds due to the different sized carbys available. more than 3 types of hitachi, a couple from solex and as I understand it, carter made a couple as well. the 1200, 1400, 1600 and 1800 motors all had different carbys and manifolds.
Just buy the carby brand new from America and get the adaptor plate from your local car parts supplier, Ebay australia or make one.

the Adapter is bolted to the manifold, then the carby is bolted to the adapter.
As for the adapter plate you will need to go to the parts store itself to have a look I know supa cheap have them as do Auto 1 over here, sorry but I don't know the part number.
have a look herefor a detailed picture essay it is from this page http://www.indysworld.com/80s/general/U ... repair.htm it took a while to find this but it is worth looking at.

Whats Ive Notice is that the black rocker cover EA81's have the wider stud pattern and the blue Have the narower stud pattern. Most adapter plates will fit both.

If it were me, Id go for an auto choke over a manual one, and water over electric if you have the option
