Loving the Weber upgrade.

Hi Guys,

I must say i got a bit of a surprise at the extra grunt after fitting the weber to my Brumby. It is very fiddly to tune, but worth the patience. Fuel economy is actually better than my standard carb was. All in all i'm enjoying it and glad i went for it. The complete kit from the U.S was $319 including choke and adapter plate. $60 postage. The guy in the states gave me expert advice, and the correct fittings.

Wow... Webber upgrade. That's a blast from the past. First did that probably 13 years ago. Has always been a great mod. I never had a choke though.

When that second throat comes in she really gets going and it's surprising that sitting on 100k (i'm in the country) is pretty effortless. Lots of theories around regarding the tuning (advance your timing) increase idle speed etc, but for me it's trial and error and some tweeking. I'm pretty close.
P.S thanks Toonga, it was always going to be a challenge.

the weber has a bit of a strange tune up process. If you screw the fast idle screw more than 1 and half turns it enriches the fuel and causes flat spots and over rich mixture. So to compensate that i set the timing to abot 4 deg BTC, that justs gives you a bit better idle speed. The mixture screw is recommended to be out 1 turn, i found that inadeqate and just tweeked it a quarter turn out until she ran smoothly. in my opinion they idle completely different to the standard carb, but i guess they are chalk and cheese. the first throat takes care of 110 in 4th, and a quick snap of the pedal to the floor gets her well and truly going. These are opinions of a non expert, maybe someone will dispute me, but i,m really pleased.

Cant remember steptoe, but you can get them on ebay. Just check the spacing between the studs, take a measure. There are several different manifolds on the EA81. There are a mob in Aus selling Weber bits and pieces. They have them for about $60. I"ll check for you.

The power steering pump is in a different spot on the EA82 compared to the EA81, but the weber should still clear it.

The ones that work for your car on the dyno? :)

Primary main jet #132
Secondary main jet #130
Prim air jet #160 also seen 175
Sec air jet #165 also seen 135
prim idle #50 ,55
sec idle #55 , 50

I found these on here by steptoe a whe ago.
It all depends on where you live in altitude, how you want the car to run, and how modified your engine is.

Cheers Cam

To add to the jets set up list

primary jet 130 secondary jet 145 (I have seen 140 primary and 210 secondary)

primary idle 50 secondary idle 55 (60 on both)

primary air correction 160 (180)

secondary air correction 170 (165)

as for emulsion tubes I do know there are different sizes, but I only ever clean them and put them back in the right place.

I run the first settings on and EJ22 and I'm thinking of changing my primary air correction to 180, and leave the secondary air correction at 170.this will make the mixture a bit leaner.

My figures posted up there by Cam are only some I recorded as submitted by someone here a very long time ago, not from my experience.
I still don't know where the jets are in a 32/36 man choke weber. Did ask somewhere before but not recall a reply ....
