2.5 L Liberty driveline

Post by ozbrumby » Fri Oct 18, 2013 9:22 pm

Well my Brumby arrived today it was the one on ebay that has the 2.5 2000 model Liberty driveline brakes , hubs the lot
I must say it is quite nice to drive with plenty of torque and pull
Has a noisy 1st gear would be the only fault I can pick and it went straight thru rego inspection being an engineered vehicle I was rapt.

I will look at the oil in the gearbox and change it out as it might even be the wrong oil in it.

Anyway I thought I would crow like a rooster as I am real happy with it

We need pics :)

Try some Castrol VMX80 oil in the gearbox

From memory it's about 3.7 litres but put 3.5 in and then check from there.

+1 to pics ;-)

What do you think of Redline in the gearbox? I put it in the plated LSD but now I think its too smooth & I might go to mineral oil as I was originally told to do...

Redline is great for cars that are under extreme conditions, like rally, race, etc.. as for road cars, it's really not needed. Saying this though, it's best to use the correct grade fluids in rear LSD diffs.

I personally use Motul FF-LSD oil in the rear diffs and Castrol VMX in the trannys. I would use the FF-LSD oil in the gearbox if I fitted a LSD in there but it isn't cheap.

I have just sold a red one that I was going to convert to such and I figured I would spend at least what I paid...so wot th heck I took the plunge.
The box is a bit noisy hence why I am on the hunt Paul.
I had one lined up but it was for a 2.0L and different diff ratio from front to rear after a bit of investigation.
In all though a really nice car and extremely well set up.
Thanx Outback

No prob at all posting the pics..
Yer I don't think you could have built it for the money you paid for it..
It has been put together very well it seems..
We need a vid of it when you fix the box..
Standing start to 100kph..
Plus a bit of fun in the dirt lol..
