urgent information needed please

Can someone please help me out and tell me what the differences (if any) there is in these gearboxes, they are both 5 speed manuals out of a Subaru Liberty wagon 1999 model GEN3 with selective AWD, 5speed manual EJ20. Here are the ID numbers on both boxes TY754XRAAA and TY754XKAAA. As you will notice there is only 1 difference and that is at the 7th letter. I need to know if the TY754XKAAA will replace the TY754XRAAA without any modifications being needed? If there are any modifications needed for this swap can you please list them for me as well. Thankyou kindly for your help

or does anyone in NSW have one they can sell me? its a TY754XRAAA 5speed gearbox in good condition

The only things I can think of are the diff / gear ratios and the clutch setup.
They could be different but I can't find any information on these transmissions, apart from that they are dual range.

I know nothing about EJ stuff, which raises the question of term you use - selective AWD. I thought all EJs were either AWD or FWD , not the selcetive 4WD of the UG,MY or L Series ??

I have a feeling that the reference to 'selective AWD' is to the Dual Range lever perhaps as I am also not aware of any EJ gearboxes with 'selective' anything other than Low Range...

yeah TIGGER thats what im refering to i just didnt know what to call it, cheers mate. (sorry steptoe) does anyonev have any more information on this 5speed gearbox and what boxs are compatabile please as i cant find any information on it anywhere. its a SUBARU LIBERTY WAGON 1999model - 2.5ltr - EJ20 - GEN3 - 5speed manual with DUAL RANGE LEVER.

If you can find out the diff and gearbox ratios for your model and the model you want to swap in you will know if you can do it or not.

on MY and L's is easy as looking at sticker on rear diff to get the final drive ratio. Maybe same in your old Lib ?
I think there is a place in Sydney specialising in Subaru gearboxes - google may be your friend

Google was no help to me when I went looking for those transmission numbers.
All of the hits were from Russian wreckers

Provided the number of teeth on the crown wheel are the same (count them through the drain hole) and the casings are the same, the box should work ok.
The only other variables are the ratios of each gear.
If they are out of the same vehicle, they is a pretty good chance they can be swapped.
The numbers have a lot to do with minor internal details or year.
Having stripped many boxes, sometimes I think they just run out of stickers and use the next lot to annoy people.
An OEM engineer would be able to tell you the real story, good luck.
