Forester Turbo gear onto EJ22 ?

Post by subabooba » Sat Oct 29, 2005 4:51 pm

Hey Guys,

I can get hold of pretty much everything inc. manifold, up-pipe,turbo, dump pipe, Intercooler & bov off a GT forester (EJ20). Any idea on whether this will bolt up easily enough to an EJ22? Obvioulsy wouldn't be running much boost, but I can get the parts pretty cheap if it's not too expensive to have fitted.

Porbabaly biggest concern is obviously the manifold fitting and of course what on earth to do to the ECU, don't suppose it can be retuned with that ECUtek software?? I would imagine it's too old an ECU for that. (Series 2 Lib)

Any insights appreciated!

seriously man, save yourself alot of pain and buy a legacy front cut.

for all teh work and money you spend your still going to have something nowhere near as powerful as an EJ20T

Single turbo Leggy cuts are getting very scarce now so if you find one get it. Otherwise it's a WRX cut and the soldering iron.

Where do you fit the soldering iron???

Front cut, or complete motor and aftermarket ecu is the go. You would be buying yourself headaches otherwise.

hmm... I've heard the ej22 was designed to run a turbo... not sure though... but i'm pretty sure it has a knock sensor and some other stuff that should make this possible... not sure with all the wiring though...

Factory engine management tried and proven 100 000 times more and is legal and doesn't require you to pay some monkey to supposedly tune it for you(usually ineffectively).
