Super cheap matt got me a flexy pipe from super cheap... extends to about a meter long... and it's trimable.... maybe that could do it.

Excuse my ignorance, but ive just check my 1991 l series and I have exactly what you show there in the photo. The rubber sleeve just pushes over the end of the air firter tube.
Just looking at your photo your brackets holding the plastic air feed into the wheel guard seem to be bent back futher than what mine are.
Maybe some careful bending /adjusting of holding brackets could solve the problem ???

I think if the pipe comming out of the guard was unbolted from its little brackets then there is probably enough give in the plastic piping to convince it to fit. (as twc claims). Can't do any harm to undo those little bolts and give it a go anyways.

I trimmed the s-bend plastic pipe and used a strong plastic glue to put it back together with. I think I used some really good black windscreen glue I had lying around here. That allows for a little fexibility in the glue so it doesn't come unstuck once connected up again. You can't tell it's been done unless you really look.

Cut a smooth curve in the middle of it so that you basically just get rid of the straight section and put the two curved sections back together. Works like a charm and it's taken a complete bonnet underwater to have the engine choke. Remember that the body is lifted so the air intake/snorkus is raised as well (unlike the engine). It's enclosed in its little home by the plastic underguard and all the metal everywhere else to shelter it from sand, water and mud.

The only better solutions are to make an extension pipe to run right from the air box up to and facing the firewall where the spare tyre used to go (how often does that ever get sprayed with any debris? (It would give you a nice amount of induction noise into the cabin) OR make your own snorkel. I've not needed anything like this yet so haven't bothered. Getting that deep in water, mud etc... I'd be more worried about changing bearings all the time than the engine (been there, done that). lol
