My mate (hes prob on this site as well) put an ej22 into his brumby with an ea82 power steering rack and it all plugged in no trouble without the need for adapters or anything.
Use what you can, make what you cant. Subarus Rock!!

I have the ea81 powersteering rack as it is a my touring wagon.

The ea81 lines are about 150mm to short with completely different fittings to the ej pump.

I need to know the type of fitting needed for the ej pump other wise I will have to take bugger around and take the pump out of the car to show them
what it is.

Anybody?

I think is trying to say that if you use the EJ power steer lines, these should fit into the rack. Plus they'll boltup to the engine & its associated brackets, the pump.
Worse comes to worst, you might have to change the rack to an L series one (very common) & sell your MY version (probably nowhere near as common)

As far as i know complete custom lines will need to be made for the MY to EJ pump... I have them on my car... but im no fittings expert... i don't even know what they are called... I can't see how anyone will be able to help u unless u find a guy that works for ENZED that has done an ej conversion to an MY.

You might have to take the parts in there... As for putting the L series rack in goes.... i heard this is by far not a simple change over and over things other than the rack may need to be changed... im not 100% on this however.

Rack

Post by legacytt » Tue Oct 31, 2006 12:48 pm

I have just done the same conversion and ended up using a mix of both lines after getting the end of one of the pipes flared. Can't remember exactly but it all works. I do know I had to cut one of the brass lines. Drove my ej18 MY coupe for the first time last week. The L series rack will fit but you need to swap the rack end as the L series ones are longer. They use the same thread.
