rear discs for L series,

Post by SWAMP » Mon Nov 21, 2005 8:26 am

Looking at doing this conversion.
I gather that the easy way is to replace the whole rear subframe with one from a rx turbo or 4wd (only) turbo vortex.

I guess this means that the axles and cvs and trailing arms are different between drum and disk models.

Has anyone any info saved on this?

Thanks in advance

The Ultimate Subaru Repair manual has a good article on this here

As for the diff & axles, I'd just bring them across seperately, but you may find it better to swap across the whole rear subframe, I'm not exactly sure but I think the RX's had a big rear swaybar. They definitely had stronger axles.

I guess the question is , can you fit the brakes on without replacing anything else?

Yes, definitely. You can even fit the brakes on an MY, as I have done on my EJ20 turbo coupe.
