Bratgeebah's brake kits for early Subaru's

Hi all.
Both test cars are finnished. ( I still have to put the handbrake lever in the Brumby). They both need alignments.
Testing is set for 12th of Jan.
I have done a lot of extra work on the Brumby.
It is a lot lower with shorter rear shocks, 2wd lower shock mounts, 2wd rear pivot points on the rear crossmember with bolts to adjust toe, rear sway bar & rear mechanical LSD. The front now has much longer radius rods for more caster, and has negative camber now. It handles great!
After testing I will chase up all the parts suppliers and negotiate the final production costs and hopefully get 20 kits made (depending on the price of production).
Will put pictures of the test cars up as soon as I get a chance- I have one day spare between now and christmas so I'll get to it then I hope.

Yippee!!!!
Count me in on these! I'd like to see the pics, as I'm sure every other Subaru owner out there would!
Can't wait!!!!
EDIT: While I do have a near complete front setup here, I've been thinking a lot about it and I think I'll buy a complete kit, as it's engineered. I do have the front CV's here though, but we'll have a chat when the time comes.

Excellent work, I was starting to worry that you had hit some expensive
hurdles and walked away.
Now I dont have to worry about replacing my brumbys warped discs(it can pull the steering wheel out of my hands @ 100kph) I will Wait
patiently & drive carefully untill the goods are ready.
Once again Well Done

What bratgeebah has done is desinged and built a kit which gives you liberty discs all round on any MY/Brumby or L series suby, it's essentially a bolt on job and comes with full adr compliancing.
What does this mean? Much better braking ability and you will then have the 5 stud bolt pattern meaning plenty of rims to choose from.
What does it cost? The last estimate we got was about $1500 per kit, but this was when he was about half way through, just going to have to wait and see on a final price.
This is just what I rembered from the old forum, if there's any corrections that need to be made, fell free to do so.

It should be significantly less than $1500.
Adr testing is set for Jan. 12
After testing I will negotiate with all suppliers for final cost and post the price of the kits asap.

This is good. Will there be anychance of other batches being made after the first 20. I know I wont make the first 20 for other commitments and I bet they go fast.

This may well be the biggest advancement in old Subaru modification since the original BYB 3" lift kit.

I think you're right there Muddy. I can see all sorts of different wheels being fitted to early Subarus, and for once I might actually give a damn about "rims".
I have a set of 16" factory alloys off a 99 RX 2.5 Liberty sitting in my garage, they'll look pretty mean on the coupe I think....
And I can see the offroaders having a ball with this too, for once it won't come down to the Pugs / Desert Rats decision, the choices will be nearly unlimited.
It is big dollars to spend on an old car though, definitely put me down for one kit but another will have to wait.

HURRAY. You bloody legend. I'm counting my dollars right now.....
Fantastic to see it nearing completion. Being an Engineering grad I can appreciate the effort you must have gone to. Great work.

Hi all
What comes in the kit?

If the initial batch of kits sell I will definately have more produced.
The kits (at this stage) will have
-2 new rear hubs(cnc machined fom crmo)
-2 new backing plate boss kits (cnc machined from crmo)
-new brake lines and centrepost supports
-change over front suspension arms
-new bolts for rear set up
-spacers and blanking plugs for master cyl.(MY only)
-engineers report and adr certification
-fitting instructions with lots of pictures
I have also stocked up on backing plates and will offer them (change over) pre-drilled for those not confident doing it them selves. You will need a pedestal/bench drill some files and general tool skills to fit the kit.
Thanks mattw. It has been an enormous amount of work and development and a very large dollar and time investment.

Ooooooooh i likes the sounds of this
Im sure that 20 kits would sell in a flash
Im sure that im seriously gonna consider it,..... especially if a rear swaybar could be included in the package
What part of the country are these gonna come from????
Keep up the great work mate

Rear swaybars are easily available from Whiteline. Part number BSR41.
As the offroading crew won't be at all interested in these (they further limit wheel travel) I don't really see why they should be made part of the kit. That said, the majority of these kits will probably find there way onto road-going Subarus, however the rear swaybar choice should remain seperate to the kit.
I have some MY control arms ready, bratgeebah! Let me know when / where to send them!
Oh and I do have a drill press & some limited workshop skills.
