Now that my GLTA is almost ready for its rego inspection I am planning the auto out, manual in conversion. Need to understand the changes required by the ECU. There is a clutch switch - pin #17 in the diagram. I not understand the need or function of this.

I have a clutch switch in my Brumby for cruise control kill - this i understand.

Have others made changes to ECU signal on L series auto to manual conversions?

I dunno if you have a 3spd or 4 auto but i know for the 3 spd all you'll have to do is connect/loop the inhibtor switch to drive or park so it'll go, then hook up the reverse light wiring to the manual trans & also if you have a manual dash centre, wire the 4wd indicator switches up to that. No changes to ecu. But i cant speak for the 4spd setup

I converted my L to MPFI and i don't remember installing a clutch switch. This may be for a feature where you need to have your foot on the clutch to beable to start the car. I know that mine does not do this.

My guess would be that the process for the 3spd auto is the same for the 4spd. Just a guess though.

Also, on the point of the shorting out the park/neutral switch for the autos, this makes for an easy engine kill switch... Just a thought for you.

Cheers

clutch switch may just ...got no idea. Thinking along the same lines on a new use for those wires :)
