just bought a new rad and in between the belt protector and the radiator there's about 5mm clearance. What's wrong? I've a feeling the motor might have to angle back but i'm not to sure whats the usual clearance?

How much clearance was there before , either the new radiator is bigger or it isnt sitting whrere it was before.

5MM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! are u serious....i cna see that causing HUGE problems. even with a little bit of flex in ur engine that thing culd go straight into ur rad...

or do u mean 5cm :p coz thats about right for an EJ swap into a brumby or Lseries i think.

wt was the new rad u got..just a Brand spanker dual core MY.
i run without my belt protector to.theres only one belt neways.

Any further details, ie which of your cars is this?
I'll assume the Brumby :)
If you feel the engine needs to angle back then perhaps the lift kit size for the gearbox mounts is not right...usually it is 1" less than the rest of the kit so for you there should be 2" blocks there.

yeah sorry its the ej in the brumby with a standard brumby radiator larger inlets... I stuffed around a bit with it and have maybe 2cm clearance. The lower inlet has basically no clearance tho. The front of the car might have been pushed back a little in a crash but i don't know what the standard looks like. And the g'box spacer's were an inch shorter than the rest of the lift but the custom crossmember for the box may be wrong.

Try making the gearbox spacers longer to tilt back the engine.
