what are some relatively simple mods one could make to the EA81 to give it a little more bite. its a good engine but i want more!! not all that fussed on a turbo. anyone got any good ideas??

2in free flowing exhaust is probably the most cost effective mod, and should give a noticeable power increase.

how much will this probably set me back? i want to do all the little things and make it so its a big difference, if you get me. im currently considering a carby/air scoop mod/conversion. are these pretty much the 2 basic things i'll need to do to get that grunt? 2 other things
1. how will the 2" free flowing exhaust affect the note of the exhaust? with the cannon i have on it at the moment, its making some pretty beautiful noises.
2. by noticalbe power increase, are we talking a few HP or something REALLY noticable.

any mod you do to the car with a stock carby will only make an extra couple of kw here and there. IF your really keen try a weber carby, they can be a bitch at times, but once tuned correctly can give a really good power increase. Theres also a twin carby option available.

If you really want a massive power increase throw an EJ in there :P

ok this is comin from some1 who worked a ea81 cam everythin possible

if ur after a decent amount of power EJ it even if its ej18 it will b much beta

ok spend a bit of money on the ea81 but not too much cause i spent bout 1500 all up on the ea81 n im goin to b puttin in a ej22 very soon

The easiest and cheapest thing to do to a stock Brumby is modify the carby. The carby that is on it has a vacuum secondary. This is a great let down for the EA81 when you need the power now not when revs are up. Like driving in sand or going up a hill.

You will need to have a look at the carby and find where the primary and seconday shafts are. You need to get a bit of strong wire that you can bend to make a linkage. I used to use a bit of fencing wire.

What you have to do is attach the wire to both shafts so when you put your foot down the primary shaft will activate the secondary at the same time.

I haven't done it for about 10 years now but I seem to remember that it was on the passengers side of the carby and quite a PITA to get at.

It won't give you any more peak power. What it does is gives you power sooner and when you need it.

Total cost: $0.50
Time to do it: Any where from 10 mins to an hour

The way i have done the carb mod is as per pic, the mechanism is on the LH base of Carb.

BYB-01, ive looked at the carby in great detail and i cant for the life of me figure out how to attach a wire so both shafts open. what should i attach it to and do you have any pics?? this is something i really want to do so any info would be awesome.
