Cutting double skinned rear Brumby panels

Post by BRUMBERTY » Thu Mar 06, 2008 9:06 am

I had a consultation with my bodyworks Guru last night, he is cutting my gaurds to fit some more meaty rubber under them.

I have seen two ways of doing it now- as I get it done I will post photos.

Basically..the outer skin is being cut 25mm out from the final edge line,
the inner skin 70mm out (longer) from the final line.

Then folded on the edges, joined at the folds, rolled a little for flair, drilled and spot welded.
All original metal and minimal heat.

I am keeping the rubber flairs as I tend to rub against them on occasions.

Scrubbing is for women.
1989 Subaru WonderBrumby II
EJ22 Dual range AWD lifted, widened and much happier now thanks very much.

1991 L Series wagon, white and perfectly normal apart from the ticking, no I think that is normal.

Jet boat..webbered EA81 with a hybrid tin dish welded and glued to it.
