I'll have to google that LOL. My dad used to have an unequal set on a 6 banger XB Falcon and everyone thought it was a V8 from the sound.steptoe wrote:just dawned on me, your unequal length pipes are a bit along the lines of interference V's tuned length extractors, with the unequal being more like interference type. Once replaced interference with tuned length on an inline six and lost torque, torque returned with interference type extractors again

Looking good Mate.555Ron wrote:Willy, I stole your idea.
1 3/4" headers. Stainless Steel 3 90° bends and one 45° bend.
And 2" cat back. 2 60° bends and 2 90° bends to complete the exhaust.
I'll be getting a new set made up shortly for my newest Vortex. Gonna go 2 1/4" and put a Hot dog between the Cat and Muffler, same as on my 88 Royale sounds much deaper.
Where is the sound clip?

I've never had any dramas changing the filter, you may dribble a bit of oil on the headers when the filter is off but thats the only drama lol.Silverbullet wrote:I have a question! Only dawned on me this week; how much harder is it to change the oil filter now with the long pipe running around the front of the engine?

That's what Uni joints or ring spanners are forBantum wrote:One thing I have noticed - You'll need to make sure the end mounting plate is orientated correctly so you can get a socket set with extender on it without obstruction ...

Are we both talking about the the flanges that mate to the head?Bantum wrote:Yeah they are handy - I've got one of them in my set ...
However no manner of contorting will get a socket/spanner into that space on the inner drivers side if you got the plate mounted on wrong ...

After hanging out with a bunch of streeter subi's with wicked exhausts my inner subaru nut REALLY REALLY wants a set of these extractors!
I might have to ask a mate if he'll help me out - then find some funds to hide from the minister of fun and finance to pay for it...
Keen to know Willy, with your coupe running this extractor set, what are the specs for the rest of the exhaust - pipe diametre/resonators/rear muffer etc?
Cheers

Currently running 2" system with a strait through muffler about halfway down and 2" to the end.
I don't really like the muffler I have as it isn't as deep as what I have on tyhe hardtop. I'd prefer to run a 2 1/4" system with a hot dog in the middle and a straight through muffler at the back.

2.25 inch diametre is a bit much for a 1.8ltr isn't it?? I've got 2.25 inch with the ej22 and that's a good setup IMO.
Do you think the note with this same exhaust would be different between a hydro lifter EA81 and a solid lifter EA81?
Also what sort of distance is the pipe from the LHS port to the collector?
Cheers

The battered factory Y pipe I have for the EA81S is bigger than 2" where both pipes come together, I think 2 1/4" or even 2.5" !!
Will it ever end!?
