Ive got EA81 with gutted standard muffler with no tip, not because I want to but because I havent got around to replacing it. Does sound kinda cool at idle and from inside the car but get a mate to drive off and listen from the outside and its a boxer note yes and louder but pretty awful.
The police pulled me over the other day and didn't book me so either its not too loud or they were in a good mood as they ignored the dark tint too.
Looking foward to having it quiet again as the sound of the air going through the weber and ramflo filter is much nicer.
Getting That real grunty sound, without a new exhaust?
Cant speak for exhaust mods on the the L series as I didn't modify mine when I had the 88 model but I have sorted my 82 MY EA81 by modifying the air cleaner. Excellent sound with basic exhaust minus the muffler on the Y section after the engine. Very "grunty" when excellerator pedal pushed. Luv it.;
