For $500 (what it cost me, retail, no discount) I got the shop to bend an entire systen, custom made, from the block to the tip, including making custom equal length headers, a new hotdog and a new large 'box' muffler at the rear. I used 2 1/4 inch steel, 'crush' bends (ie: not mandrel) fully welded and installed.
I LOVE this exhaust. IMO the equal length headers are paramount to a good sound as the 'pulses' from each head 'slot' in behind each other, and dont clash. It was very quiet at hiway speed, with a slight whistle/flowing kindof sound but had a great 'subie bark' when you got up it. I LOVE this exhaust, and highly reccomend it. 2" mandrel bends would be better again, but i had limited budget too. if $500's too much, sup to you. btw, I used No catylitic converter (shh dont tell the epa)
my 2 cents

I run a standard header system with a 2 inch system from where the cat would sit if it had one.
Technically the engine was out of a '82 but the body was an '88 and the cat laws apply on from '86 engines onwards
Get rid of the hotdog as it's only a glorified exhaust system that doesn't need to be there.
A larger box muffler is the way to go as it is larger but flatter and easier to tuck away.
I bought a secondhand system off a wrecked car for $50 and it cost me another$50 to have it fitted.
It was done by a mob in Campbell St Belmont between Tyrepower and Mirage Panelbeaters.
Never got into what it looks like as the only way you can really see, is when it's on it's roof.
And that was with the bog standard carby too, so maybe with the Weber I should go for the 2 1/4 inch.

exhaust
on my ea81 powered leone coupe i made my own exhaust (sort of)
had a wagon 2" system, which i altered to pass my 60lt coupe fueltank
(2x 60 degree bends just before the tank (press bends)
and no mufflers except a toyota soarer strait through one at the rear
(looks like a hotdog, but its not)
accelerates harder, is quiet at idle but louder than my mates my99 wrx on full noise
and ive noticed my fuel consumption has gone down considerably
used to get 500 from a tank driving concervatively, now i get 830k's
if i flog the hell out of her, i get 600
so it works well
my dad told me i'd burn out valves but so far so good

Funny you ask this coz I am sort of sick of mine - 2 inch, no resonator hot dog and just a straight though muff at the rear. It has a great cackle rumble and pop, but gets a bit much on long trips. Gonna see if I can scrounge or steal another 2 inch muffler to shove in where a hotty should be - just rear of the cabin
