i think its 2" ish but im sure hell post up the details when he gets a chance

im not here for the arguments, and im not a ricer... but i posted on here to talk about exhusts... not have a grump about tip sizes

the exhasut goes on 2moro so ill c how it goes...

Just on the note of exhaust and lifting, my exhaust is fine after I lifted it 2" today. Could do with a tuck just to add a little extra clearance, but it still sits fine!

smilies in a post helps makes it a little more humourous. perhaps you need to re-evaluate the tone of the post

Sounds like a 2", with a cat...

Here was my car when all it had was EA81 (catless) headers, 2" pipe to a single lukey sports muffler.. clickey clickey

shortly after that, I was nabbed and fined by the EPA. Now I run the same setup with the addition of only a hotdog. Quieter, yet still prominent.And falls under the EPA specified limit (forgot what it was, and I made it by a whisker)

As for tip? None. plain old 2" pipe. Why bother?

2" fits fine into the cutout of the bumperbar, with 3" you may have dramas.

I agree with tim - if you have what it takes under the bonnet (which you seriously, seriously don't

) then you need to have 3". Seeing you don't, you'll only get laughed at, and draw unwanted attention to yourself (from the local constabulary).

yeah that's why it's best if you do the lift first, you can tuck it up further and have slightly less chance of hitting it.

on the subject of tips, my new system doesn't reach the panel

so no more jamming it in the ground when backing back down for a nother try!

yer... i should have called it a tail pipe, because its just a pipe coming off the back of the muffler i was talking about.. not really a tip.. but i reckon 3" looks good, but the exhaust goes on 2moro so i will have a look at the sizes

exhaust went on yesterday. very happy

.. got 2 1/4 " system from the y-pipe join back to a hotdog in the middle, to a high flow lukey muffler at the back, with a 2 1/2" tail pipe. the 3" tail pipe was going to be a bit of a squeeze between the bumper (didnt want the plastic to melt).

Results of the exhaust = sounds very nice

, not the true rexy rumble but close to it... noticeable power increase aswell... they even painted it black

all up $220

seems its my brothers soobie he is very impressed. Taking pictures and video on the weekend so i will post them up later in the weeek...

Hmmm possibly say that a guy that's come in with a maroon Brumby and had it done said to pass you on. Maybe you can get it cheaper than $220 then!

I'm hoping this isn't a stupid question, should be getting my exhaust next week. do the same principles with backpressure etc apply to a mpfi ea82 he same as the carb'd model???

currently i'm looking at 2.25 from the cat backwith a sports muffler orsomething like that

i've been quoted $275 from carline in kewdale does anyone know of anywhere in perth that would be cheaper???

backpressure is only really needed in Non turbo cars... as the turbo on a turbo motor produces the backpressure.. so... i wouldnt go over 2 1/4 " pipe on a N/A 1.8 subie motor

I believe this is an alternative to flanging a joint. One end of the pipe is slightly blown up so that it can slide over the other piece, then clamped.

fair enough. i personally wouldn't be happy with that, and would feel more secure if it was welded together. each to their own i guess.

Chase - 1 thing that hasn't been mentioned yet, that is if you intend on offroading this car, a flexi joint is essential.

Hmmm, I never even thought of doing something like that. I might get them to chuck a flexi in my system when I get it shoved up higher because of the lift!

I would weld up the slip joints too... this can make the system survive with-out a flex, but the flex and all joints welded is the ultimate.

Exhaust World in Newcastle street Perth would worth a quote spaceage, Pete`s a real good guy and knows what hes doing.

From experience with MPFI EA82`s the best thing you could do is toss the factory header pipes&cat and install a cat after the blend with some good front pipes. 2" is well big enough for a MPFI EA82 system....
