ok got a ea82t into my wag what do i ask for exhaust wise at a exhaust shop.i thinking from the dump back at this stage .the missus drives this as a shopping trolley during the week so nothing to droning but a good note.at the moment you can't hear the car running. Cheers Will

currently running 2.5" exhuast with 3" cat on the dump pipe straight through muffler at the back. can be heard but still nice and quiet.

I have 3" from the turbo and 2.5 all the way from the cat back, she is WAY to QUIET and i am getting rid of it. I use to run 3" all the way with just 2.5 tip on the exhaust and she was sweet... sweet boxer noise as you rip up/down the gears and quiet most other times.

Where do you mount the cat?

Under the car or in the original position?

original position; the exhaust shop will probably first suggest cat underneath - its what they are used to - do not do that ...it would severly impact underbody clearence.

Mine is under, and does not reduce that much... beside i think with a 3" dump you it will be a VERY tight fit.

I got 3" dump....its not that tight really..and the join underneath to exhaust/muffer section is in original position too..so using all original supports as intended too
the only drawback is the heat radiated to the inner CV boot, but I have found that wrapping the inner CV boot with the silver wine casket stuff and cable ties really works at keeping the life of the rubber..

I think the bend and weld close to the cat really tests the skill of the exhaust shop...if they are too inexperienced and lack the skill walk away and find someone else...because original is the best position IMHO

Underbody clearance is not an issue as I don't take the RX off road (the odd forest road or snow trip is it's limit)

What's a cat?

With a pleasent burble, and quiet enough for the Mrs to drive, and the blue boys not to take interest - a 3" mandrel bent, from turbo back, to twin 1/2 tips, cat under, and even on a Vortex, the hiflow cat is not much lower than anything else. - ... and yes, it goes off road, and tows boats along the beach, and....

i thought that was a rabbit .. so confusing. And just cause its vaguely related to exhaust .. i had a free inspection of my L series the other day.. man the guy must have been in a really good mood or something cause he let me go with nothing not even a warning.

How much difference does a larger exhaust really make to a ea82t engine anyway anyone dynotuned.

I got one on a rx about 7 years back and didn't really notice the difference driving it
