rim size for brumby

Post by hack92 » Sat Oct 11, 2008 9:40 pm

would some one be able to tell me about changing wheels on my sons brumby, would it still be legal with 14 inch rims. We have just got the ute and its his first car I would like to keep it legal to avoid insurance problems but it appears most brumbys have the 14s on. Thanks if some one can tell me.

Iv'e got 15x6" Super Lites on my Brumby with 185x60 profile. No dramas with licencing here in WA. I recon if you went real big as in MOnster truck big they might spew at that though.

The rule here (last I heard) is that you can increase overall diameter by 16mm, i.e. SFA. But heaps of people have 14s, and as Wozzy said, as long as you don't go crazy with offroad tyres, no one will give it a second look.
Just make sure you put rubber flares on it too, because most brands of 14s will hang outside the guards and draw attention.

they will be fine! they give the car a much more aggressive stance too :)

but yeah, if you get a very very very anal cop, they may ping you for the wheels sitting too far out the arch.(this is usually only applicable with subis running very fat 4x4 tyres)

i had 14's on my car for years with no flares or anything and never got a 2nd look. they do look stock.
