wider wheel track on 04 outback

Post by baitman » Fri Sep 18, 2009 6:11 pm

hey guys im thinking of putting some wheels with only + 10mm offset onto my gen4 o4 outback this will make the tyre stick out past the guard by about 15mm which im going to cover with homemade flares. but want im wanting to know is if the wider track will affect steering and cornering heaps, or nothing to worry about, any advice would be great

+10 will move the outside of the tyre out by 45mm. Standard offset is +55.
Not only will this affect steering, cornering, geometry etc, it will also put extra strain on the bearings and hubs. Moving the rim/tyre out that far will give you clearance issues on the outside of the body too, even with rubber flares, unless you have a serious lift kit.

I'm not syaing don't do it, I'm just pointing out what you have to be aware of. But I certainly wouldn't do it.

I'd be looking at what was changed on the 04 model to increase its track width .

Any particular reason for wanting the wider track ?

A .
