Just wondering what size tyres are best for 90% on road use 10% off road on a brumby? The standard size i believe is 175/70R13, i'm currently running on 155/75R13 (which are so bad and cheap wangtro brand tyres, terrible in the wet) I'm upgrading the rims to a 14" and was thinking of running sum maxxis performance 185/60R14. If i could get some advice on what other ppl run and how this will affect my turning circle and speedo?
cheers
Best Tyre Size???
For 90% onroad and 10% offroad then yeah you'd just need a normal road tyre.
Your speedo will be out a little, my suggestion here is a mental adjustment. Just make sure you drive roughly 5km below the speed limit....closer to 10km when up around 100km/h. The speedo will indicate a speed a little slower than what you are actually driving. If you are really keen then you can get a speedo correction box installed in-line with the speedo cable but it will cost abit.
Don't think it will affect your turning circle, you should be able to turn to full lock without a drama.

The only ones I woouuld recomend are BFGoodrich as they have a thicker sidewall and really hang on in the dirt, I tried all sorts on my brumby and these turned out to be the cheapest to run because once you put a hole in the sidewall of any tyre they are cactus. I was running the 13's as I had plenty of them I can find out what size I ended up running before I changed to outback rims and tyres!
87 targa brumby (Neglected),
92 targa brumby (weekend runabout),
97 Lifted Outback (Dailey drive),
05 outback safety (Too cheap to pass up),
90 model liberty (was to be scrapped instead sold to workmate)
+ others.

Have a play with a Tyre size calculator, put in the standard size and some other size and look at the percentage difference in the speedo reading under the picture.
Grab a junk mail flyer from a tyre shop and put in what ever is on sale.
If a tyre doesn't list a profile eg (175/75R13 v 185R13) then use 80.
Turning circle wont change unless you go so big they scrub on the inner guards.
I had 185R13 on my Brumby before a got the Lift kit and 14s, they didn't scrub.
Daza.
