Seriously if i wanted my car to be faster than yours why did i get my ej22 rebuilt. I could have done an ej20T conversion cheaper than the rebuild.

I hate it cos they sound wrong and never seam to idle right. And i don't have anything against turrbos... just belive it doesn't have the power where and when i need/want it. I belive there is an entire post about this if u want to read more. I can't seam to find a post about how crap an ej22 is though.

got talking to an old aquaintance who won't shut up about his early Liberty EJ22 with over 500,000 on it, FWD to boot, economical and quick. prefers to drive it than his new Liberty. he nearly stole it off its previous owner for 2k about 8 years ago !!

Look i love the EA82T and also love the EJ gear, i do recall the other and this 1 is about Pugs, and how good they are (or are not).

I was really surprised that the pugs had greater offset than your 15s.

Despite how good I think the pugs are (and much smaller offset than sunraysias or desert rats), I'm not sure if I can bring myself to bolt them onto my Brumby (it'll seriously ruin the look!). Hopefully with 2"lift and some guard bashing, I can fit my muddies on the rats.

I rekon EJ22's are better cause you only have to replace them when you fill the entire engine with water.
EA82turbos need the entire engine replaced even when its just the injectors filled with water!

(I still want an EA82turbo for the RX - Somebody hook me up with one!!)

I've had fuggly pugglies on my L for years, got them for nothing.....and they look like it.
I've belted roos, wombats, tree stumps, you name it. I've bent the Scooby several times, never bent a rim.
Despite my Engineering lessons on bolts (re studs) and the reasons for the special oval washer nuts, I still worry I'll bust off the studs sometime. but if they survived a roo at 100kph, I guess they're ok.
the Pug mags are more common in 14", but there are some great looking ones in 15" or so. I say "or so" cause they are very rare in 15", common ones are a metric diameter which only Michelin make road tyres for ($$$). the 15 inchers are all taken by the Pug fans for their 505 GTi's and you'll never get any off them. As already said, they're too soft for bush bashing anyway.

as for the ea82 bashing, stuff ya...... ;->

It's a 390mm, vs 15" imperial at 382mm from memory. I'd like to have a close look at the rim lip on the alloys and see if I can mill off 3-4mm from the inner and outer edges to fit 15" tyres. I've read it _has_ been done on the Pug's, and I do have access to the precision machinery capable of doing it properly, but structurally it could be quite delicate - certainly not for off-road work

The 390mm pugs _are_ a nice looking rim though...certainly look good on a lowered MY Leone coupe.

I haven't put a dial on a pug rim, but most mags have a rim thickness of 5mm or so, so I doubt there is enough material on the inner rim to skim them down. Please prove me wrong tho, gives another option. And yeah, they'd look great on a streeter.

the prefered steelies are the ones that have holes in the middle as standard (better pic to come, going out with the camera right now.......), makes getting them balanced easy, and they don't require the special nuts.

the coolest mags are these, in my humble opinion.
