Gettin more rubber Under a Foz.... rear spring seat issues....

Post by SKT » Wed Jun 18, 2008 11:51 pm

I am currently running 205/75/15s on my 2000 Foz and want to get more choice but cant get anything larger under with the rear spring seat in the way...

What would be peoples suggestions as to get around this pain in the arse issue....???

Coilovers will give you all the clearence you want,
but coilovers at full height are lower than standard struts, so you lose some height,
The amount varies from brand to brand.

Won't lose height (might be able to actually gain some) if you get Forester specific coilovers.

subaruforester.org has a heap of info about them.

Would be worth checking, All the Forester coilovers i could find were shorter than standard Forester struts.
If you find any let us know as they'd be the struts to have on any lifted Forester/Outback/Liberty/Impreza...
I can only find lowering info on sf.org...

I see all the 14" wheelers getting some decent rubber under their cars.....

Would it be worth me setting up on 14" rims to get a wider choice of aggressive rubber???

The lack of aggression is really what its about... I can do without the extra height... if its not possible... I have to deal with it anyways.

Struts

You could replace your rear struts with outback ones as they have the spring seat higher so 28's fit no drama. Plenty of choice in the 215/70/16 range or 215/75/15.

I've heard this can be done. Would anyone know what would be the difference in travel between the stock struts and OB struts.....????

I can't tel you any of that about the Forester. I can tell you that with the Outback struts I fit 235x75/15's. The OD was 738mm which is a touch over 29".
