Another 27" question please help.

Hi Guys

This is also my first post here and I desperately need some advice. I fitted 27" Wild Conquerers to my L Series a couple of years ago. No lift except for the King Springs and the sedan shocks on the rear. No problems and only rubs a little on absolute full lock but I'm sure the offset of the rims could have been better.

Anyway I need to replace 2 of the tyres and I'm told that Nankang have stopped production and that a new version of them will be released in a month or 2. So none available now and can't really wait. One of our tyre suppliers says he can get me 27 x 8.5 Hankook RT 01's. Has any one else used them on a Sub? I do alot of work up at the Double Island Ligthouse so I'm on the beach all the time. Also work for allterrainwarrior.com.au so doing mods on my Sub is kinda like working on a little toy but I love it.

Please can anyone offer a solution or tell me if I have been told the right stuff about Nankang. Or should I just go with the Hankooks.

One of the other members on the board just got one of the new Nankangs so they must be in stock some where. They look very "roady" to me.

Never used the other tyres you are asking about. There is quite a large range in the 27x8.5 size. Search any of the tyre manufacturers and you will find them.

Don't do big road miles so, if I can't get the old Nankangs I'll go with the Rt01's. I think they should be ideal for the beach. Much cheaper too. Have only seen pics though and they look far more offroad than on. More like a muddie. Maybe they will look different in the flesh, that's why I was asking on the forum if anyone had actually used them or even seen them.

The RT01 is Hankooks mud terrain. I can't see why it wouldn't be an excellant tyre.

What are you after though, a mud terrain or an all terrain?

As I said road use isn't a priority and I have had a good run out of the Super Trippers. When I asked our tyre supplier for work, what he had in offroad tyres (sand in particular) in 1" this was what he came back with. BTW We make the Canter buses that run up to Fraser.

I think that the RT 01 while they call them a muddy don't seem to have lugs right out on the sidewalls like alot of others do and this would help them not to "dig" in sand. I'm sure this has been spoken about here before. I want big rolling diameter rather than width.

Also they are cheap. And I'm poor.

I should of said in the original post that as I had no lift kit I had to cut the gaurds back. Even the little bit on the rears as well.

Hi.I've got a 27" nankang spare in the different pattern[Can't get super trippers no more story].Its called a forta.It doesn't have the all terrain tread of the old super trippers.It may be like bridgestone 694 doesn't look offroad but goes quite well offroad.Are the hankook's cheaper than $120 a tyre?

Hi Stamp licker,

Not sure of the RRP. We normally buy heaps of offroad Michelin and Hankook tyres that cost 6 or 700 bucks each so they gave me a very good price. Some of the Michelin XML's like the military use on the ASLAV's cost us $1200 each. Maybe someone else knows the full price.

I am going to bite the bullet and buy 4 in a week or two.
